Law roundup: Police tell catnapper to free Steve

A neighbor reportedly stole a woman’s cat, Steve, and refused to give him back. The Kalispell Police Department advised the catnapper he needed to return Steve or face a theft charge. The neighbor reportedly agreed to return the cat, but not without lamenting about his concern for Steve’s wellbeing. The officer informed him that Steve is a barn cat acquainted with living in the great outdoors.

A man driving a gold Escalade XL was reportedly smoking with a baby on his lap. The multitasker then parked in a store’s pick-up area. Someone concerned about child neglect was following the vehicle. They were told to stop. The vehicle had an expired license plate and was unoccupied when officers arrived.

Officers continue to get calls about an alleged loudmouth who stands on a corner yelling through a megaphone. This time, it was double the fun for someone who said the bearded man had two megaphones and was “starting to approach” vehicles, which they “found disturbing.” As “disturbing” as it might be he wasn’t doing anything criminal and was within his rights.
