Cross Country, Track & Field
In case winning the state championship as a freshman wasn’t impressive enough, Annie Hill won a second straight state cross country title last fall and did so in record style. Hill covered the three-mile course at Eagle Falls Golf Course in Great Falls in just 16 minutes, 30.71 seconds, running 17 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Hill, who went on to finish 22nd at the Foot Locker Cross Country national championships in December, enjoyed a terrific track season, too.
Hill finished second at the state meet in the 1,600 and 3,200-meter races, behind only now-graduated Billings Senior superstar Christina Aragon. She added a third place finish in the 800 at the state meet in Missoula.
Since the end of the prep season, Hill has sizzled on the national distance running scene. Just two weeks ago, Hill won the girls exhibition mile run at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, besting the top high school runners from around the country with a time of 4:44.16.
