Valentine’s dance at Linderman

Kalispell Parks and Recreation is hosting its annual Valentine’s Day Dance Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Linderman Education Center gym. Enjoy food, drinks, music with deejay Mike Hammer, games, prizes, sweets, a photo wall and more.

Guests will also have a chance to win one of four free adult lift passes to Blacktail Mountain Ski Area. Doors open at 7 p.m. Entrance is $5 per person or $15 for a family of four.

This year’s theme is “Giving Love to Others.” Consider bringing some new or used youth clothing to donate to the HEART Locker, which supports students in need.

Give blood for chance to win ski pass

Sandy’s Friends and Family Ski Pass special blood drive will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Kalispell Blood Center, 126 N. Meridian Road.

All donors will be entered in a drawing for two Blacktail Mountain day passes.

Dementia care in the home discussed

The Whitefish School District Adult Education Program is sponsoring a class titled “Dementia Care in the Home” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 13 to March 20.

Kerry Nagel Attend with patient advocacy and dementia education will facilitate.

Caregivers will learn facts, concept and tools to help navigate their loved one’s illness.

Volunteers needed for Free the Seeds!

Volunteer slots are available for the annual Free the Seeds! Fair Saturday, March 2, at Flathead Valley Community College. Organizers expect more than 1,000 people to attend the free event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the FVCC Arts and Technology Building.

This successful event is planned and organized entirely by volunteers, but many more hands are needed to help during the fair. Time slots begin at 8 a.m., with set up before the doors open, and continue through the end of the fair. Help is needed with everything from parking to information to kids’ activities. Attendees are welcome to volunteer for a time slot before or after they attend workshops,

Now in its fourth year, the fair continues its commitment to building a sustainable and resilient future for the community.

Student art contest focuses on conservation

Community Action Partnership of Northwest Montana is sponsoring an art contest in Flathead, Lake, Lincoln, and Sanders counties for all middle/high school students.

Interested students are asked to submit artwork depicting what energy conservation means to them. Students are encouraged to be creative and design a work of art showing any type of energy conservation — electric, water, heat, recycling, etc.

A 12-month calendar will be created from the 12 winning pieces and used to promote energy conservation throughout the year. Each month will be represented by a different student’s artwork.

Entries must be postmarked or submitted to Community Action Partnership’s main office in Kalispell by April 17. Winners will be announced and prizes will be given out no later than May 17.

Students whose art is selected for the calendar will each receive a $50 gift card and the student’s teacher will receive a $25 gift card (limit one gift card per teacher).

Cheerleader camp at Rankin Elementary

Flathead High School cheerleaders are hosting a cheerleading camp Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Rankin Elementary gym.

Participants will learn cheers, chants, jumps and basic stunts, and then perform at half time during a varsity basketball game at the high school.
