Bigfork girls 3rd at state golf

MISSOULA — The Bigfork girls golf team picked up the third-place trophy at the Class B state tournament on Wednesday at Canyon River Golf Course.

Bigfork improved by 10 strokes from Tuesday’s opening round to finish with an 826 score for 36 holes.

Missoula Loyola, 728, easily claimed the team title, led by medalist Katie Fagg, 74-82—156. Fagg was the state runner-up last year.

Shelby, 768, was second.

Skyler Martin of Shelby was the individual runner-up, 77-84—161.

Bigfork’s Isabella Santistevan, 88-87—175, was sixth overall and teammate Carly Stodghill, 92-90—182, was eighth.

Also figuring in Bigfork’s scoring were Mackenzie Holton, 118-115—233, and Hattie Emslie, 120-116—236.

Led by Bucky Crippen, Loyola also claimed the boys title with a 639 score. Conrad, 687, was second and Baker, 726, third.

Crippen shot 65-75—140 at The Ranch Club to capture his second straight state title. He was 2-under for the tournament.

Blake Finn of Big Timber, 74-74—148, was second and Cody Graveley of Boulder, 73-77—150, third.

Bigfork’s Brandon Hopkins, 90-89—179, tied for 19th.

Bigfork’s boys did not qualify for the team competition.
