Golf season begins for Flathead, Glacier

GREAT FALLS — The high school golf season got started on Monday with the 36-hole Great Falls Invitational.

Four local athletes are among the top 10 individuals after the first round. Flathead’s Ezra Epperly sixth among the boys with a first-round 79, while Glacier’s Sam Manaker is one shot back in a six-way tie for seventh.

Among the girls, Flathead’s Jillian Wayne is tied for fifth with an 82. Alana Griffin of Glacier sits in eighth place with an 84.

Justin Verge leads the boys field by five after a first day 68.

Carrie Carpenter of Billings West and Cora Rossanova of Bozeman lead the girls, tied at 78.

The Bozeman boys and girls lead the way, with 296 and 340, respectively.

The Wolfpack boys are in fifth place at 345, with Flathead sitting ninth at 364.

The Glacier girls are sixth at 396 with the Bravettes are tenth at 451.

The tournament wraps up today at the Eagle Falls Golf Club.

Golfers are set to tee off at 8:30 a.m.
