Mercer tied for 2nd at Butte-Anaconda golf tournament

ANACONDA — Flathead’s Marcella Mercer shot an 82 to tie for second at the first day of the Butte-Anaconda golf tournament on Wednesday.

Mercer is tied with Sami Yates and Cooper Knarr of Bozeman.

Cora Rosanova of Bozeman leads the day with 81 strokes, nine under par.

Jillian Wynne of Flathead is third with an 86.

Shooting 101 was Glacier’s Abi Manger, in at ninth.

Also in the top 25 were Blayke Foppiano, Hannah Nikunen, Stella Claridge and Allee Meyer of Glacier and Flathead’s Sophie Dykhuizen and Kianna Storm.

The Flathead Bravettes are third in the team standings with 391 points and Glacier is fourth with 424.

Tyler Avery and Keaton Cassidy of Glacier are part of a five-way tie for second in the boy’s standings with each carding 79 strokes.

Brothers Justus and Jordan Verge of Bozeman are tied for first with 75 strokes apiece, three under par.

Flathead golfer Ezra Epperly is third, shooting 80 on the first day.

Sam Manaker of Glacier is tied for fourth with 81.

Other golfers in the top 25 boys standings are Coby Kunda and Ethan Purdy of Glacier.

The Wolfpack boys team is 10 points behind Bozeman in second place.

Flathead is in eighth.

Play continues today at the Butte Country Club at 10 a.m.
