Aaron Miller, 80

Aaron Miller, 80, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at his home in Kalispell. Aaron was born on April 24, 1929, in Richardton, N.D., to Ambrose and Elizabeth (Amann) Miller.

Aaron was raised in North Dakota and in Washington, where he attended schools. He graduated from high school in Spokane.

He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1947 and was honorably discharged in February of 1953. His primary assignment in the Coast Guard was electronics technician for Loran transmitting at Cape Blanco, Ore., and in many other locations, including Guam, Hawaii and St. Paul Island.

Aaron married Carol Gehle in 1954 in Kalispell. They had been married for 55 years. Aaron worked many jobs throughout the valley, including Kootenai Motor Freight, Richards Oil Company and Valcon Fuels. Prior to his retirement, he operated his own company, A. Miller Co., specializing in tank removal and water quality.

He had a wide range of interests and hobbies, including precision machining, sculpture, oil painting, gardening and computers. He also developed and marketed his own original products.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Elizabeth Miller Johnson; his stepfather, Alfred Johnson; sister, Delores Miller Sutherland; stepsister, LaMoyne Johnson Jenkins; brothers, Donald and Kenneth Miller; and stepbrother, Walter H. Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Miller, of Kalispell; three children, Karen E. Fredenberg and husband,Steven, of Medford, Ore.; Valerie L. Schnackenberg and husband, Henry, of Everett, Wash.; and Donald Miller of Phoenix; one brother, Jean A. Johnson, of Lakeside; granddaughter, Amber J. (Fredenberg) O'Duane, and husband, Danny, of White City, Ore., great-grandchildren, Brittney Miller, Kacey O'Duane and Donovan O'Duane; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kalispell.

The family requests memorials be made to the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Trinity MOMS Group,Trinity Lutheran Church,or charity of choice.
