Basketball roundup: Whitefish tops Frenchtown

FRENCHTOWN — Keaton Nicholson connected on 7 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter and finished with a game-high 22 points as the Whitefish Bulldogs edged Frenchtown 54-52 in a key Northwestern A boys basketball matchup on Saturday.

John Chapman had 19 points, Chris Delaney 12 and Bridger Truett 11 for Frenchtown in the back-and-forth contest.

Chapman hit three 3s in the final quarter.

Art Doorn added 11 points for Whitefish (3-2 overall, 7-7 league) and Garrett Anderson tallied 10.

BIGFORK — Eleven Bigfork players figured in the scoring as the top-ranked Vikings claimed a Class B nonconference victory over St. Ignatius.

Josh Sandry led the way with 17 points, Isaac Martel followed with 13 and Ryder Trent knocked down 10.

Christian Evans had nine rebounds and seven points for Bigfork.

BIGFORK — Bigfork did a third of its scoring from the free throw line (20 of 27) and Tessa Robertson flirted with a double-double (13 points and nine rebounds) as the Valkyries cruised to an easy Class B nonconference victory over St. Ignatius.

Bigfork (11-3) led 14-3 and 26-9 after the first two quarter stops.

Miranda Campbell had seven points and nine rebounds for Bigfork while Mattison McAnally had 10 points and five steals.
