Defeated bill would have given protection against even worse bill
Last week I read that Rep. Carl Glimm, R-Kila, sponsored HB-615 allowing “anyone to defend themselves against government action or violation of certain laws by claiming it violates their religious beliefs.”
Today I see that it was closely defeated (50-50). Regretfully, HB-615 will no longer protect women from HB-425 — Rep. Matthew Monforton’s (R-Bozeman) “personhood” bill — which passed in the House.
If, heaven forbid, HB-425 is signed into law, it would decree that women are lowlier than zygotes or an aggressive spermatozoon, i.e. less than nothing, not only in the minds of ignorant men, but in the eyes of the law.
Goddess has delivered unto me divine inspiration to start a matriarchal church. Clearly, men are not worthy of leadership because their minds are too clouded with unclean or violent thoughts to think straight. Women must oversee and protect men in every aspect of church and state before they cause further harm to humanity.
Commandment No. 1: Women shalt not be forced to endure unwanted pregnancies. Goddess is still working on other divine rules which She’ll convey later.
HB-615 should be reconsidered. It would allow any ideological organization protection from government (including Glimm and his cohorts). The Establishment Clause in the U.S. Constitution prohibits limiting any religion’s rights over another, even The Church of Goddess The Utterly Divine Matriarch.
Radicalized Montana Republicans should work harder at providing health care for Montanans, fixing Montana’s abominable roads and spend less effort violating the rights of Montana citizens. —Wanda LaCroix, Arlee
