FVCC trustee talks about candidacy

| April 29, 2015 9:00 PM

I am running as an incumbent for the Flathead Valley Community College Board of Trustees position because I am both passionate about FVCC and excited by the limitless possibilities that lie before it.

With current working knowledge of operational matters such as strategic planning, fiscal management, personnel practices, policy-making, facility management, school law, curriculum, assessment, and instruction, I am equipped to continue serving as a productive board member.

Additionally, with combined backgrounds as a seasoned public educator and private sector business owner, I bring a unique perspective to the Board of Trustees, complementing the great work already in progress.

As a business owner I learned the value of a highly trained work force and the important role the community college fills in training the work force. As a military spouse of 31 years, I have special empathy for meeting the educational needs of our veterans and nontraditional students. My 16 years of experience as a Kalispell high school principal has kept me in touch with the challenges that students and families encounter when planning the next steps after high school.

I look forward to the opportunity to both contribute and grow as a proponent of our college’s local efforts to provide innovative lifelong learning opportunities for all students. —Callie Langohr, Kalispell
