Skotnicki, Richards claim Herron titles

Whitefish’s Ryan Skotnicki and Missoula’s Christi Richards were the winners Sunday of the eighth annual Herron Half Marathon at Herron Park.

Skotnicki clocked a time of 1:29:34, six minutes ahead of second place finisher Craig Hertz of Whitefish.

Justin Shobe of Kalispell was third. The second place finisher among the women was Kaci Monroe of Kalispell.

Richards, who was 10th overall, had a time of 1:50:43.

Winners of the 10K were Chris Alfiero of Polson on the men’s side, and Jessica Johnson of Bigfork on the women’s side. Johnson, with a time of 45:51, placed third overall. Alfiero’s time was 41:26.

Tyler Avery of Kalispell was second. The second female finisher was Lindsey Bengtson of West Glacier. She was sixth overall.

In the 5K, it was Stephen Sprunger of Columbia Falls, with a time of 22:16, winning the men’s race. Samantha Modderman was third overall, and first among the women. Her time was 22:49.

Jeff Lillard of Kalispell was second. Helena’s Emma Compton was the second woman to finish, seventh overall.
