Baseball Lakers AA, A host Canadian Days Tourney

The Kalispell Lakers A American Legion baseball team will be shooting for their third straight Canadian Days Tournament title this weekend.

The Lakers A scored seven runs in the top of the 12th inning last year in the championship game to defeat the Mission Valley Mariners 9-2.

The Kalispell Lakers AA also advanced to the championship game, but lost to Boys of Summer from Bellevue, Washington, 16-6.

Lakers AA won this tournament in 2016 and 2014.

This year’s field has three more teams than last year. The new editions are Calgary Cubs and Spokane Bandits in the AA bracket and Trail, B.C. and Shadle Park in the A bracket. Not returning are Boys of Summer.

Play starts Friday at 3 p.m., resumes Saturday at 8 a.m. and ends Sunday with championship games for AA at 4:30 p.m. on Griffin Field and A at 5 p.m. on Archie Roe Field.
