Top-seeded Twins advance to district championship game

FLORENCE — Zach Veneman’s single in the bottom of the sixth inning helped the Glacier Twins break a tie and beat the Bitterroot Bucs 5-3 at the Western A district tournament on Saturday and earn a spot in the championship game today at 2:30 p.m.

Jacob Polumbus was the winning pitcher with three strikeouts, allowing two runs on six hits through six innings.

The Twins scored five runs on five hits. Cade Morgan, Stevyn Andrachick, Veneman, Payton Davisson and Jack Price each had one hit. Davisson and Andrachick doubled.

FLORENCE — Five late runs doomed Kalispell Lakers A in an 8-3 loss to the Missoula Mavericks A.

The game was tied at three each when the Mavs scored five runs in the top of the sixth to pull away.

Pitcher Caleb Morgan took the loss for the Lakers, allowing three runs on six hits through five innings with three strikeouts.

Carver Van Aken led Kalispell with three hits on four at-bats. Gabe Lacroix had two hits.

FLORENCE — Aydan Wlliamson drove in four runs to help the Libby Loggers beat the Mission Valley Mariners 7-5.

Williamson drove in runs on a third inning homer and a double in the fifth.

Libby pitcher Caden Williams went the distance and allowed five runs on eight hits with three strikeouts.

Williamson led the Loggers with three hits, Quade Anderson and Williams had two.
