Arrest made in Lake County man’s death
A Stevensville man is behind bars and charged with deliberate homicide in the Christmas shooting death of a Lake County man.
According to a press release from Ravalli County Sheriff and Coroner Steve Holton, 33-year-old Trevor Matthew Looney is in the Ravalli County Detention Center. In addition to the homicide charge, Looney was also booked for criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
Sheriff Holton said deputies responded to a Fifth Street residence at 12:10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 25 after Looney allegedly shot John Komotios, 39, who had lived in Missoula, Flathead and Lake counties.
According to Holton, a fight between the men led to Looney shooting Komotios several times with a handgun.
The investigation is ongoing and the scene is secured awaiting autopsy and search warrant results. Holton asked anyone with knowledge of Looney's behavior and travels prior to and leading up to Christmas to call Det. Sgt. Matt Cashell at the Ravalli County Sheriff's Office.
Holton thanked Lake County Sheriff and Coroner Don Bell for locating and notifying the victim's family.
