Kalispell plans sessions on transportation plan update

| February 4, 2020 12:01 AM

The city of Kalispell is working with the Montana Department of Transportation to update the Kalispell Area Transportation Plan, known as Move 2040. There will be three listening sessions to gather input on needs, issues, ideas and strengths regarding transportation in the Kalispell area.

The first listening session will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 12; the second will take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 13; and the third will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 13. All of the listening sessions will be held at the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce.

Move 2040 is intended to take into account automobile traffic and other modes of transportation, including biking, walking and public transportation. The plan is to outline improvements to meet projected transportation demands through the year 2040, including a recommended list of affordable transportation options.

Move 2040 will be created using input from the public. Phase 1 of the plan involves the three upcoming listening sessions. Those interested are also encouraged to participate in the online Issues and needs survey, available here: kalispellmove2040.com. The survey offers the opportunity to provide interactive comments about transportation needs in the Kalispell area.

The public is also welcome to send comments to Project Manager Wade Kline at wade.kline@kljeng.com or by mail to 1830 Third Ave. E. #202, Kalispell, MT, 59901 by Feb. 27.
