Hoerner sisters lift Wildkats in 4

COLUMBIA FALLS — Mady Hoerner had 20 kills and Dillen Hoerner added 13 as Columbia Falls stayed unbeaten by beating Whitefish in four sets in the Western A Divisional volleyball tournament.

Dillen Hoerner had 20 digs for the Wildkats (16-0), who prevailed 25-10, 23-25, 25-18, 25-22. Jazzy Marino checked in with four blocks and two aces; Hannah Schweikert had four aces and 45 assists.

“We came out extremely strong and then Whitefish got us in the second set,” Wildkats’ coach Jolandie Brooks said. “Everyone is playing hard, tournament-time ball.”

Columbia Falls plays host to Polson today at 1 p.m. in the winner’s bracket semifinal.

Brook Smith had 12 kills and 16 digs to lead the Bulldogs (8-8). Whitefish falls into a loser-out match at Corvallis today, also at 1 p.m.

The top four teams make the State A tournament in Sidney starting Thursday.
