Flathead netters go 5 sets, get first win

MISSOULA — Savannah Sterck had 16 kills, 17 digs and three aces to help Flathead edge Missoula Big Sky in five sets for its first volleyball victory of the season Saturday.

Maddi Chavez was credited with seven blocks for the Bravettes, who won 18-25, 20-25, 26-24, 26-24, 15-12 and improved to 1-5 in Western AA matches. Kylie Munsinger had 48 assists to help Flathead rally from two sets down to the Eagles (2-6).

Tuesday Flathead heads to Glacier for cross-town volleyball.

Kynzie Mohl had 18 kills, Emma Anderson added 16 and that helped Glacier past Missoula Big Sky in four sets Thursday at the Glacier gym.

Kaylee Fritz had 40 assets for the Wolfpack, which improved to 4-3 in league matches.

The Eureka Lions beat Mission at home 25-19, 25-11 and 25-19 Friday, then lost at Thompson Falls 22-25, 24-26, 26-24, 25-23, 15-11.

HELENA - Anna Hudson had 11 kills against Helena Home School and Sophie Sulzbacher led the way against Helena Christian with six kills, and the Cougars swept a pair of MCAA matches Saturday.

Sulzbacher added nine kills, 10 digs and a block to Stillwater’s 16-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-21 win over Helena Home School.

In their 25-14, 25-9, 25-7 win over Helena Christian the Cougars saw Zoe Linn amass five aces, 10 assists and four digs. Gray also had four digs.

The Cougars are now 8-8, and 5-3 in conference matches.
