Volleyball: Wolfpack swarms Bulldogs

Emma Anderson and Kynzie Mohl had 12 kills each and the Glacier Wolfpack pinned a tougher-than-it-looked, three-set volleyball win on Western AA foe Butte Saturday.

Kaylee Fritz had 33 set assists and two blocks in the 25-18, 31-29, 25-18 victory. Mohl’s efforts out of the middle helped the Wolfpack survive the tough second set.

“Butte dug really well and passed really well,” Glacier coach Christy Harkins said. “And I was proud of our hitters for continuing to attack aggressively.”

Morgan Hernandez had 29 digs and Sidney Gulick served up two aces for the Pack.

At the Flathead gym, the Bravettes lost three close sets and the match in four despite 11 kills and six blocks from junior Savanna Sterck.

“We played hard,” Flathead coach Emily Russell said after Butte prevailed 25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 25-23. “We started strong and couldn’t really finish in the middle of sets. That’s where we kind of dug ourselves a hole. We’ll get there.”

Kylie Munsinger had 24 set assists for Flathead. Mayson Moore had five aces and 22 digs.

POLSON - Maggie Todd had 18 kills and 20 digs to lead Polson past Northwestern A rival Ronan in four sets Saturday.

Kobbey Smith added 7 kills for the Pirates (5-2), who prevailed 20-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-18.

Olivia Clairmont had 12 kills for the Maidens.

Stillwater Christian wins pair

Stillwater Christian’s volleyball squad won a pair of home MCAA conference matches Friday, defeating Bitterroot Home School and Helena Christian in three sets each.

Sophia Sulzbach had eight aces and four kills in the Cougars’ 25-13, 25-10, 25-12 win over Bitterroot Home School. Grace Anderson checked in with seven aces, six kills and two digs in that victory, and added six kills and seven aces in Stillwater’s 25-15, 25-11, 25-6 win over Helena Christian.
