C-Falls sweeps, blanks Libby

LIBBY — Cheyanne Johnston-Heinz scored two goals and assisted on another and the Columbia Falls Wildkats made quick work of Libby in Northwestern A girls soccer Saturday.

Maddie Robison scored three goals and had two assists and Aletheia Fisher scored her first goal of the season and added an assist for Columbia Falls (5-1-0 overall, 2-1-1 in league). Sydney Mann found the net in the 55th minute as well.

“I thought our offense played incredibly well today,” Wildkats coach Thomas Clark said. “Maddie Robison was super dangerous and Cheyanne Johnston-Heinz had some incredible goals. All in all just a great team win.”

The Wildkats play Polson Thursday at home and travel to first-place Whitefish Saturday. The Bulldogs handed them their only loss on Sept. 17, 1-0.

Libby is 1-3-1, 1-2-0 in league.

LIBBY — Kai Golan and Johnny Carl scored two goals each as Columbia Falls shut out Libby in Northwestern A boys’ soccer Saturday.

Golan assisted on one of Carl’s goals and Finley Sundberg added a goal and an assist for the Wildcats (5-0-1, 3-0-1 in league), who outshot Libby 32-7. The Loggers are 1-5-2 and 1-3-1.

Niels Getts and Dale Blickhan also found the net for Columbia Falls.

“Great leadership today by our captains, Walton Nichols and Jason Albin,” Wildcats’ coach O’Brien Byrd said. “We played a lot of our younger, less-experienced players today and really relied on their leadership and experience.”

Columbia Falls now prepares for two big matches: At home against Polson Thursday and at Whitefish Saturday. The Wildcats and Bulldogs tied 1-1 on Sept. 17.

“Looking forward to a busy week,” Byrd said. “It’s a really big week for the conference.”

Mabelle Hartman scored two goals to boost the Stillwater Christian Cougars over Columbia Falls Wildkats JV 3-1 on Friday at Stillwater Christian School, its first victory of the season.

Both of Hartman’s goals were assisted by Madison Morken.

Emma Anderson also found the net for Stillwater (1-2-1).

“It was a hard fought game and both teams played hard,” Stillwater coach Kristie Birkenstock said.”The Stillwater team came out strong and held on tight to their lead, giving everything they had until the final whistle blew.”
