Kahle, Smith go 1-2; Whitefish sweeps NW A divisional

POLSON — Cameron Kahle fired a 72, Billy Smith came in at 74 and the Whitefish Bulldogs put four golfers in the top eight to win the Western A Divisional boys’ golf title Saturday at Polson Bay Golf Course.

Whitefish swept the meet, with Anyah Cripe shooting 90 to lead a 3-5-8-14 finish among the girls. The Bulldogs won the girls’ title by 18 strokes and the boys won by 24.

Behind Kahle and Smith was Hamilton’s Tanner Hanson, who shot a 76. Whitefish golfer Marcus Kilman followed at 81 and Johnny Nix was at 82. The Bulldogs’ Bjorn Olson shot 85 to tie for 11th. Whitefish had 308 strokes to 332 for Hamilton.

Columbia Falls put two golfers in the boys’ top 15: Cody Brothwell (81) and Luke Sova (86).

On the girls’ side Corvallis standout Macee Greenwood fired a 74 to win medalist honors by 15 strokes over Hamilton’s Aly Rose.

After Cripe, Whitefish had Kendall Reed tie for fourth at 91 and Maddie Sramek tie for eighth at 97. Anna Elm placed 12th for the Bulldogs, who had 379 strokes total. Polson, led by Ellie Thiel’s 93, was second at 397.

Columbia Falls’ top finisher was Liz Olpaka, who placed 21st with a 111.
