Flathead outscored by Missoula schools
The Flathead softball team fell victim to the big bats of Missoula Big Sky and Sentinel, who beat the Bravettes 30-14 and 17-1 in a twinbill Tuesday at Kidsport.
Grace Hood hit three, 3-run home runs and drove in 10 for Big Sky, which scored 14 runs in the top of the seventh inning. Hood’s bombs came in the second, fourth and seventh innings.
The Bravettes, getting a homer and four RBIs from Karissa Comer, trailed just 16-10 after six.
Kaidyn Lake, Comer and Brianna Morales all had two hits for Flathead, which had forged an 8-8 tie after three innings. Lake drove in two runs.
In the nightcap the Bravettes managed just one hit against the Sentinel tandem of Amy Taylor and Charlee Hoover, who combined on eight strikeouts. Taylor gave the Spartans all the runs they needed with a first-inning grand slam; Keena Kay and Cassidy Schweitzer also homered for Sentinel.
Macy Craver scored Flathead’s only run by tagging up and scoring on Morales’ sacrifice fly to deep short in the first inning.
