Chargers jump to early lead, down Twins

HELENA — The Great Falls Charges scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back as they downed the Glacier Twins, 12-6, Sunday at the Keith Sell Tournament in Helena.

The Chargers led 9-4 after two innings.

The Twins outhit Great Falls, 12-10, but couldn’t come back. Zach Veneman had a stellar game at the plate, batting 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and two RBI. Danny Dunn was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Jacob Polumbus was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The Twins are 2-2 at the tournament, which is scheduled through Monday.

Stevyn Andrachick was 3-for-4 with a triple, two doubles and an RBI as the Glacier Twins downed the Billings Scarlets 10-5 on Sunday morning at the Keith Sell Tournament.

Mikey Glass was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Zach Veneman had a double and an RBI to lead the Twins offensively.

The Scarlets blasted out of the gate with four runs in the first inning, but the Twins chipped away at that lead, scoring one run in the first and second innings, then taking the lead with four runs in the bottom of the third.
