Libby Loggers 1-2 at Florence tournament

FLORENCE — Dylan Buckner drove in three runs with two hits, and Libby made an 8-0 lead hold up for a 13-8 win over the Bitterroot B Bucs Thursday at the Rasmussen Memorial Tournament.

The Loggers split two games Thursday, dropping an 11-6 decision to the Lewistown Redbirds. On Wednesday they dropped a 10-9 decision to the Bitterroot A Bucs.

Rusty Gillespie drove in two runs for the Loggers, and Caden Williams had an RBI double during a 4-run fifth inning that made it 8-0. Brett Osborne had three singles and scored three runs for the Loggers, and David Bailey had three hits and scored twice.

Buckner got the win on the mound, allowing two hits and three walks in five innings of work. He allowed one unearned run and struck out five.

Tripp Zhang had a big game and Libby built leads of 2-0 and 4-2, but Lewistown scored five late runs to seize the victory.

Zhang had three hits, including a leadoff triple and a double, and scored four runs for the Loggers. Caden Williams drove in four runs, including a 2-run single in the second that put Libby (13-21) up 4-2.

Lewistown scored three runs in each of the first three innings and in the fifth got a 3-run double from Nolan Fry to go up 9-5.

Trey Larson’s sacrifice fly won it for the A Bucs late Wednesday, though the big hits came from Casey Kohlman: A grand slam in the third and a 2-run single in the 5-run fifth inning.

That allowed Bitteroot to make up deficits of 8-0 and 9-6. Libby scored six times in the second inning, thanks to six walks and a 3-run double by Aydan Williamson.
