Twins, Loggers split Sunday twinbill

WHITEFISH — The Libby Loggers scored five runs in the top of the third inning, then held off the Glacier Twins in the seventh to claim a 7-6 American Legion baseball victory in the first half of a Sunday twinbill.

But the Twins, 17-7, roared back to claim the second game, 16-1.

The Loggers had 10 hits in the first game, led by Tripp Zhang, Tucker Masters and Aydan Williamson, all with two hits. They led 7-3 after their half of the seventh, but the Twins fought back with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

The Twins kept their bats going for the second game, with eight hits.

Zach Veneman had a 3-run homer and Jacob Polumbus added a triple. Glacier took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back.

Williamson was 2-for-2 in that game to lead the Loggers.
