Bulldog netters sweep Wildcats

Whitefish’s tennis teams swept Columbia Falls in a dual at FVCC on Tuesday.

The girls won 7-0 and the boys 6-1.

Defending Class A state champion Gracie Smyley beat Columbia Falls’ Hannah Schweikert in straight sets( 6-0, 6-1) in No. 1 girls singles. Whitefish’s Jayce Cripe took down Niels Getts at No. 1 boys, 6-3, 6-2.

Dale Blickhan and Nico Lang were the lone winners for the Wildcats, beating Mason Kekh and Austin Gunset in No. 2 boys’ doubles 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.

The Columbia Falls doubles pair of Cade Morgan and Cody Schweikert took Aaron Dicks and Highland Lee-French to three sets, but the Whitefish pair prevailed in the final set, 7-6 (8-6), 1-6, 6-4.

Columbia Falls next plays host to Libby at FVCC at 10 a.m. Saturday. Whitefish plays Ronan 11 a.m., also at FVCC. Each team will swap opponents later in the afternoon.
