Flathead sweeps track dual on Whitefish’s turf

WHITEFISH — They didn’t rack up a bunch of personal records but the Flathead Braves and Bravettes did record a sweep of their dual track and field meet with Class A Whitefish Thursday.

The Flathead boys prevailed 103-48, behind wins from Dylan Zink in the high and triple jumps.

The Bravettes, with Lilli Rumsey Eash sweeping the 800 and 1,600 and Rebecca Eacker winning the discus and shot put, scored 95.33 points to 55.66 for Whitefish.

Hannah Perrin had a strong 3,200 meters, clocking 11 minutes, 26.08 seconds — A PR and the fifth-best mark in Class AA.

Teammate Tegan Halloran moved into the AA pole vault rankings by clearing 9 feet, 2 inches to finish second to Flathead’s Hania Halverson (9-6).

Not everybody ran in their usual races: Whitefish sprinter Mikenna Ells skipped the sprints and won the 800 in 2:30.15. That puts her in the top nine in Class A.

Hailey Ells (60.95), Brooke Zetooney (61.06) and Isabelle Cooke (61.66) went 1-2-3 in the 400 for the Bulldogs and moved into the top eight in Class A while doing so.

Making similar moves were Maeve Inglefinger in the 300 hurdles and Erin Wilde in the triple jump. Wilde’s mark of 34 feet, 10 inches is tied for third in her class. Wilde also won the 200 Thursday for the Bulldogs, and their short relay team clocked 50.26, improving on its own time and sitting second in Class A.

On the boys’ side Whitefish distance runner Jacob Henson finished second to Flathead’s Gabe Felton in the 3,200, but his time of 10:28.18 puts him among the top seven in A.

The Bulldogs’ short relay team also ran the fifth-fastest time in A: 44.63.

Alec Thomas and Nate Prieto split the 100 and 200 for Flathead. The Braves’ Timothy Weymouth matched his season best (13-0) while winning the pole vault.

Whitefish’s Talon Holmquist won the discus and shot put.
