Polson wins State A opener; Libby, Columbia Falls fall

BUTTE — Mckenna Hanson’s 2-run single keyed a 4-run third inning for Polson, and the Pirates subdued Corvallis to move on in the State B softball tournament at Stodden Park Thursday.

Katelynn Druyvestein backed her own pitching with an RBI triple in the first, and she singled and scored on Kobbey Smith’s ground in the fourth to put the Pirates up 7-1.

She also threw a three-hitter in the circle, allowing three walks and striking out 13.

Sydney Wolsky had an RBI sac bunt in the second inning and a solo homer in the seventh for the Blue Devils.

Erika Haines’ 2-run double in the sixth broke an 11-11 tie for the Rangers.

Aspen Dawson hit a 2-run homer as the Wildkats fought back from a 6-3 deficit in the fourth inning, and Columbia Falls took a 10-6 lead in the fifth.
