Hannah Sempf cruises to Western A win

HAMILTON — Columbia Falls’ Hannah Sempf won the Western A Classic Saturday, running a personal-best time in a meet that had plenty of Bitterroot flavor.

Hamilton’s boys finished 2-3-4-5-6 to win the team title with 20 points. Whitefish, led by Mason Genovese and Jacob Henson in seventh and eighth and Landon Brown in 15th, was second at 72. Columbia Falls was third at 98. Logan Peterson took 1th to lead the Wildcats.

Sempf won her race in 19 minutes, 38.1 seconds. Browning’s Kiara Iron Heart was second in personal-best 19:57.9 and Polson’s Ashtyn Wagner was third.

Corvallis edged Columbia Falls for the girls team title, 51-61. Hamilton was third and Whitefish fourth.
