Bigfork Community Players return to the stage with ‘The Kitchen Witches’

| October 21, 2021 12:00 AM

The Bigfork Community Players’s new comedy “The Kitchen Witches,” opens in Bigfork Friday, Oct. 22.

Isobel Lomax and Dolly Biddle are two “mature” cable-access cooking show celebrities who have hated each other for 30 years, ever since Larry Biddle dated one and married the other. When circumstances put them together on a TV show called “The Kitchen Witches,” the insults are flung harder than the food. Dolly’s long-suffering TV-producer son tries to keep them on track, but as long as Dolly’s dressing room is one inch closer to the set than Isobel’s, it’s a losing battle. The show becomes a ratings smash as Dolly and Isobel try to top both Martha Stewart and Jerry Springer.

Written by Caroline Smith, “The Kitchen Witches” is the first play produced by the Players since Covid-19 closed the curtains on their productions almost two years ago.

“We’ve been looking forward to presenting this comedy for some time,” director John Goroski said. “We’ve had plenty of time to rehearse and expect to delight the audience with this hilarious production.”

The show will play at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts, 526 Electric Ave. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22 and 23, and at 2 p.m. Oct. 23 and 24. Tickets are available at Bigfork Drug, the Pocketstone Cafe, at the door, and online at BigforkCommunityPlayers.com.
