Pirates slug way to win over Libby

POLSON — Polson had eight hits Saturday, and a lot of them were big: The Pirates hit three home runs in a 13-3 win over Northwest A softball foe Libby.

Carli Maley hit a 3-run homer in the first inning for Polson. In the third inning Kailey Smith hit a leadoff homer and three batters later Nikki Kendall sent a 3-run shot over the fence in right.

That made it 12-1.

Kinzee Boehmier doubled ahead of a two-run single by Peyton Waggoner in the fourth inning for Libby. The game ended under the mercy rule in the fifth, on Mckenna Hanson’s RBI groundout that scored Caitlyn Ward with Polson’s 13th run. Ward had three hits and scored three times.

Samantha Rensvold went the distance on the mound for Polson, allowing four hits in five innings, with six strikeouts.
