Wolfpack start strong at Great Falls dual

GREAT FALLS — Jeff Lillard, Kash Goicoechea and Ethan Anderson all got out of the gates fast Thursday for Glacier as the Wolfpack won its track and field dual at Great Falls High.

With Lillard winning the 200 and 400 — the latter in a Class AA-best time of 51.52 seconds — and Anderson sweeping the hurdles races, Glacier beat the Bison 92-53.

The Pack also cruised to the win on the girls side, too, 95-50, behind double-winners Kai Johnson and Alyssa Vollertson.

Anderson’s time of 41.73 in the 300 hurdles sits atop of the AA heap in the early going, and his time in 110 hurdles was an impressive 15.31.

Lillard’s time of 23.37 in the 200 also leads AA.

Goicoechea led a 1-2-3 Glacier finish in the 100 meters with a AA-best time of 11.17. He was followed by Jackson Hensley and Evan Barnes.

Glacier’s sprint crew also put together a time of 43.49 in the short relay.

Henry Sellards won the shot put with a mark of 50 feet, 1.25 inches, No. 2 in AA; teammate Aiden Krause won the discus with a AA-best heave of 150-5.5.

Great Falls’ Scott Klinker set the early standard in both the long jump (21-8) and triple jump (44-0).

On the girls side, Noah Fincher and Emmery Schmidt split the 100 and 200 for Glacier, with Schmidt clocking 27.61 to lead AA in the latter.

Bailey Gable’s time of 48.59 in the 300 hurdles isn’t far off the AA qualifying standard (48.50) and leads AA; Staisha Thomas, Gable, Schmidt and Fincher clipped through the 400 relay in 51.8.

Johnson swept the discus and shot, the latter with a strong throw of 35-10; Glacier teammate Jaidyn Pevey cleared 5-1 to win the high jump; and Vollertson swept the 800 and 1,600.
