Tommy O'Connell is player of week at Miles
Glacier High and Kalispell Lakers alumnus Tommy O’Connell was the Mon-Dak Conference player of the week for April 19, after hitting .500 for the Miles Community College Pioneers.
O’Connell helped the junior college Pioneers go 8-0 for the week by hitting 11-for-22, with two doubles, four home runs, eight walks and 13 runs batted in.
He also stole a base and scored 11 runs. The sophomore outfielder is hitting .329 on the season, with a Mon-Dak-leading eight home runs in 27 games for the 26-9 Pioneers.
Kalispell products Kael Willis, a catcher, and Jack Corriveau, a pitcher, are also on the MCC roster, and Mike O’Connell, Tommy’s older brother, is an assistant coach.
Corriveau, a sophomore, has a 2-0 record with 14 strikeouts in 14 1-3 innings.
