Holden, Nikunen lead AA Lakers to sweep
Adam Nikunen had a pair of two-hit games, Max Holden threw a near-shutout and the Kalispell AA Lakers swept the Great Falls AA Chargers Saturday at Griffin Field.
In the opener Holden allowed two hits, two walks and on earned runs in the Lakers’ 11-1 win. He fanned five.
Kalispell (7-1) took advantage of eight walks issued by Great Falls pitchers, and absorbed six hit-by-pitches besides. Oscar Kallis and Joey Thatcher each scored twice.
The game ended with one out in the sixth under the 10-run rule.
In the second game Nikunen, Kaden Drish and Andre Cepehrs all hit doubles to pack a trio of pitchers. Ostyn Brennan started and threw three scoreless innings, scattering a hit and five walks; Carter Schlegel took over and cruised for three innings, before Nikunen came in to get the final out.
Schlegel stole three bases in the game; Brennan and Nikunen had two thefts each.
The Lakers are off until a May 10 road game with the Class A Libby Loggers.
