Law roundup: Homeless man alleges attack at store

| February 22, 2023 12:00 AM

Officers with the Kalispell Police Department assisted a man in getting to the warming shelter after he was allegedly attacked at a gas station. The man, described as distraught, told police that a woman hit him and broke his glasses. While not needing medical attention, the man said he did not appreciate being hit, spat on and “treated less than.”

A woman asked police for help in getting information from her husband regarding several car titles. She said he had taken out a no contact order against her and she wasn’t sure how to get the information otherwise.

Reviewing surveillance footage, a local manager apparently saw several people scale the walls of the business and get up onto the roof a few days earlier. The manager asked for an extra patrol in the area.

Officers helped a man who fell out of his motorized wheelchair in a local lobby.

Someone phoned the authorities with word of a suspicious item or activity at a local store. They did not specify what, exactly, was suspicious.

A caller from another city was hoping police could help him track down his son’s truck following the younger person’s arrest.

Annoyed at vehicles speeding up and down the road, a resident contacted the police to request an extra patrol. The resident described the vehicles as “jacked up pickups.”

Someone walked into police headquarters wanting to report a stolen title and turn over information on the person they suspected of taking it.

The victim of a scam contacted authorities believing that the scammer lived in Kalispell.

A woman going for a run came across a group of people standing around an unresponsive man on the ground. She told dispatchers she didn’t stop to gather more information — she was alone at the time — and didn’t have her phone on her. Officers were unable to locate the man.

Officers were summoned to the scene of an alleged fight. A bystander told authorities that two men were yelling and punching each other. The men left before officers arrived, but other witnesses said the fight was actually an argument.

A delivery truck driver collided with another driver’s rig in the parking lot of a local business. He said the other driver got out of his truck and began yelling and screaming at him.
