Bravettes oust Glacier, 2-0
The Bravettes are Bozeman-bound after a 2-0 win over Glacier in Class AA playoff soccer on Tuesday at Legends Field.
“That was awesome,” Bravettes coach Zach Brenneman said. “And that would seem to be the most decisive one we've had this season against them. The other ones were 3-2, and to win 2-0 and not let them score was pretty cool. They definitely had some terrifying opportunities in the first half.”
Lilli Eash booted in a goal four minutes into the contest, Celie Vandenbosch scored on a free kick in the second half, and the Bravettes clamped down defensively to help Flathead to its first playoff win since 2018.
“I think we really limited them in the second half to shots from a distance and did a better job of passing the ball and moving in the second half,” Brenneman said. “We calmed down a little bit and moved the ball a little better. I think that helped us out a lot.”
Glacier won a state title in 2020, missed the playoffs last year and ended up 6-9 this fall. Reagan Brisendine, a Griz soccer commit, had 27 goals, the most in Class AA.
The Bravettes (7-5-3) got their last playoff win over Helena 4-0 in the first round in 2018, before a 3-1 loss to Hellgate. Now Flathead faces 13-0-1 Bozeman on Saturday.
“We get to go to Bozeman, play the No. 1 seed from the east, it's gonna be a tough matchup,” Brenneman said. “They're a good team. I don't know much about them because we never get to play east side teams, so we'll try to do some homework if we can.”
