Jonah Watson Isles, 28

| October 26, 2023 12:00 AM

Jonah, our sweet boy whom we called "The Boy," passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 8, 2023. He has passed from the darkness of this world into the eternal light and the arms of Jesus Christ his savior.

He was born in Peru, Illinois, on Nov. 22, 1994, to Jay, Sr., and Julie Isles. He attended Glacier High School in Kalispell, Montana, where he took extra classes his junior year to graduate a full school year early. An award-winning boxer, Jonah also played rugby for the championship team.

Later, he spent precious time with his sister Holly's growing family and attended classes at Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois. He enjoyed video games, frisbee golf with friends, hiking, fishing, skateboarding, and basketball. He had a great love for all animals, but especially unique animals. He always had a pet of some sort, whether a turtle, hedgehog, or ferrets.

He had such a tender heart. All who knew him were instantly drawn to his loving, caring nature. He was always willing to help others in any way he could, and, because of who he was, others were always willing to help him, too. His unique sense of humor was always welcomed, and his smile could instantly light up a room.

His constant struggle with mental illness was a challenge for him. He really underestimated his abilities, talents, and gifts that god gave him. He spent a lot of time reading his bible and praying to stay strong and keep pressing onward. His faith in Jesus Christ kept him going when life was difficult. He will be greatly missed and loved forever by family and many friends.

Surviving family members include his father, Jay W. Isles, Sr. of Kalispell;  mother, Julie Isles (Carlson) of Geneva, Illinois;  sister, Holly Koenig (Matthew); half sister, Katie Johnson (Mathew); half brother, Jay W. Isles, Jr.; niece and nephews, Addison, Benjamin, and Josiah Koenig; and several other half nieces and nephews; maternal grandparents, Clifford and Doris Carlson; uncles, aunts, cousins, and many beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John W. Isles, Sr. and Melba R. Isles; and a cousin, Gabriel R. Garrido.

A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at the Fairview Cemetery, on Oct. 27, at the Buffalo Hills Funeral Home in Kalispell. Graveside service to follow at 12:30 p.m., Fairview Cemetery.

There will be a celebration of life ceremony, to be determined in Illinois.
