MISSOULA — Missoula Sentinel quarterback Riley Allen threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more Thursday, and the Spartans pulled away after halftime to beat Flathead 46-7 in Western AA football.

Allen had scoring runs of 2 yards in the first quarter and 7 yards in the third. The latter sparked a 32-point second half for the Spartans (3-1, 2-0 in league).

The Sentinel defense held Flathead (1-3, 0-2) to 207 yards and came up with six turnovers. Jaxon Allery had two of the Spartans’ five interceptions and returned one 41 yards for a TD in the second quarter.

Flathead QB Brett Pesola threw for 161 yards, including a 21-yard scoring strike to Stephen Riley at 7:20 of the fourth quarter. That cut Sentinel’s lead to 39-7, and the Spartans tacked on a TD pass from backup QB Rudy Hess as time ran out.

Brody Thornsberry had four catches for 90 yards for the Braves. Jaden Williams had a team-high seven tackles and also rushed for 38 yards; Noah Sonju had an interception that he returned 29 yards.
