Kastelitz, Glacier boys take down Eagles
MISSOULA — Cohen Kastelitz scored 19 points and the Glacier Wolfpack overcame a hot start by Missoula Big Sky to bank a 49-44 win over the Eagles in Western AA basketball Tuesday.
The road win came despite the Eagles’ hitting five 3-pointers in the first quarter, four by Carson Towe. Then the Wolfpack allowed just 11 second-half points.
“Shoot, and on the road,” Glacier coach Mark Harkins said of the win. “And Big Sky always plays so well at home. I’m excited we got that.”
Kastelitz helped the Pack keep pace with 11 points in the first quarter. Liam Ells hit a big 3-pointer and scored five points in the fourth quarter as Glacier created a little space.
“We gave up 21 in the first quarter and then the rest of the game we were pretty good, locking down on defense,” Harkins said. “ We adjusted a couple things and I liked how they responded to all that. (Kastelitz) had another monster game. I’m sure he had a double-double again. He played really well.
“I thought the team battled really well. Every game we’re getting a little better. That’s all you can ask for.”
Towe finished with five threes and 14 points for Big SKy. Ells had eight for Glacier.
