Girls hoops: Vals downs Whitefish, move to 9-1

WHITEFISH — Ave Davey scored 18 points, eight coming in a tone-setting first quarter by Bigfork in the Valkyries' 64-16 girls basketball win at Northwest A rival Whitefish Friday.

Four players reached double figures for the Vals, who are 9-1 overall and 4-0 in Northwest A games: Braeden Gunlock had 16, Paeten Gunlock added 12 — she had both of her team’s 3-pointers — and Gemballa added 10.

Jude Perry’s six points led Whitefish (3-5, 0-2 in league).

EUREKA — Aubrey Casazza scored 16 points, Kara Stanger added 10 and the Eureka Lady Lions made short work of Plains in a District 7-B game Friday.

Stanger and Casazza hit three 3-pointers each; both hit two while the Lions (4-5 overall, 3-0 in 7-B games) built a 36-9 halftime lead.
