Cody Hunter Sorenson, 24
Cody Hunter Sorenson, 24, a native of Columbia Falls, was born on a beautiful Monday, the 29th of March, 1999. His proud parents, Bilynda Eden Anderson (Jassman) and William Richard Sorenson, welcomed him into the world with open arms. Cody's early years were spent in Columbia Falls where he attended school and began to shape his life.
Cody was a man who lived life to the fullest, embodying the spirit of a true cowboy. His zest for life was evident in his wide array of hobbies, which included hunting, packing, camping, fishing, trapping, and tanning hides. He also had a creative side, often expressing his thoughts and feelings through handwritten poetry.
From a tender age, Cody nurtured a profound love for the rodeo. He was not merely a bystander but an enthusiastic participant. His passion and innate talent for the sport were so remarkable that he ascended to become a PRCA and PBR bull rider. This enthusiasm for rodeo also ignited a yearning to travel and discover new landscapes, a characteristic that would accompany him throughout his life's journey. His love for the outdoors extended to Mountain man shooting, a sport he was deeply passionate about.
Cody's adventurous spirit extended beyond the rodeo and travel. He had a fondness for hiking every mountain peak and fishing in every mountain lake he could locate. However, his greatest passion was unearthed when he learned the art of tanning hides. He mastered a technique known as "brain tanning," which quickly evolved into an obsession.
Cody found his sanctuary in the mountains, specifically the Bob Marshall Wilderness and Spotted Bear. These places were his haven, where he felt most at peace. He was baptized in the serene waters of the Hungry Horse Reservoir, a testament to his deep connection with nature. He once embarked on an adventurous journey, floating from the Canadian border back to the Flathead, a feat that speaks volumes about his adventurous spirit.
Professionally, Cody was a skilled hunting and fishing guide in the Bob. His knowledge of the wilderness and his love for nature made him an exceptional guide. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, and his presence was especially comforting during the tranquil moments of sunrise or sunset. His natural affinity for horses was evident to all who knew him. Some even say he was born 150 years too late, such was his deep connection with the natural world and the traditional ways of living.
However, his life took a delightful detour when he crossed paths with Molly, the woman who would soon become his beloved wife. After a whirlwind romance that spanned six months, Cody and Molly pledged their love for each other in a private ceremony in the Bob Marshall Wilderness.
A year later, their happiness was amplified when they welcomed a beautiful daughter, Eleanore Josefine Rose, into their lives. Cody's life was a tapestry woven with love, adventure, and if one word could encapsulate his spirit, it would undoubtedly be "wanderlust." He wore his heart on his sleeve, always ready to lend an ear or share a smile. He was a best friend to all, a man who was always there when you needed him.
Cody was more than just a friendly face; he was a listening ear, a helping hand, and a true friend. His authenticity shone through in every interaction, making him a truly real person. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts, and he will always be remembered for his helping hand and his love for life.
