Letters to the editor March 3
Art of the deal?
Neither my father or brother, both Purple Heart recipients, nor my husband, Vietnam veteran and National Guard retiree, enlisted to defend a country whose president, vice president, secretary of defense and tacitly compliant Republican majority aligned themselves with Russia, North Korea and Belarus in refusing to condemn Vladimir Putin as the murderous dictator responsible for the death and destruction wreaked by his lawless invasion of Ukraine.
None of them would have signed up to defend the extortion of a country fighting for its life or abandonment of our allies who have helped keep the peace since World War II. By their actions they have made a mockery of every single drop of blood shed by those who defended democracy. They have given aid and comfort to the enemies of the state.
Some might call this treason.

We need a voice
A plea to Sens. Steve Daines and Tim Sheehy, and Rep. Ryan Zinke:
I appreciated your pledges to work hard for your Montana constituents, so now I ask that you have town hall meetings around our beautiful state. Every day brings more questions because of actions taken by President Trump.
The United States siding with Russia against Ukraine and calling Zelenskyy a dictator is mind boggling. I am alarmed that Trump has allowed Elon Musk, a billionaire, to access our private information. Musk was not voted into any office or position by the American people. I am devastated because the Forest Service employees who keep our forests healthy have been fired. Wildfire season is only around the corner. Glacier Park has been enjoyed by people from around the world and I’m wondering who will maintain it since so many employees have been fired.
We need a voice and want town hall meetings across Montana.
