A Eureka man is facing a felony charge for allegedly raping a child in a Flathead Valley RV park nearly a decade ago.

Jonathan Kennedy Campbell, 37, pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual intercourse without consent before Judge Amy Eddy in Flathead County District Court on April 2. Released on $50,000 bond, he is expected back in court on Sept. 22 for a pretrial conference.

Prosecutors initially filed the rape charge against Campbell in November 2021. Campbell allegedly forced a child in a Montana 35 RV park to perform oral sex multiple times between April 2017 and June 2018. The child later moved to Texas and disclosed the rape to a church counselor, according to court documents.

The child told authorities that Campbell warned them against telling anyone about the rape, court documents said.

The Flathead County Sheriff's Office investigated the case.

Owing to the age of the victim and the suspect at the time of the alleged rape, sexual intercourse without consent is punishable by up to 100 years behind bars and a $50,000 fine. If convicted, Campbell would be ineligible for parole for at least 25 years.
