Harold Dwane Oney, 87, passed away peacefully at the Montana Veterans Home on Sept. 3, 2019.

Harold was born in Pearl, Texas, on Sept. 29, 1931.

He joined the Army in 1952 and was honorably discharged. Harold went back to his career as a carpenter and remained in that profession, retiring as a millwright for Plum Creek.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Creed and Beatrice Oney, his sister Edwina, brothers Jerald and Royce, as well as Harold’s only son, Richard Dwane Oney, and longtime love Colleen McNeil.

He is survived by his sister LaRue and sister Meredith (both from Texas), many nieces and nephews, his only namesake and grandson, Caesy Richard Oney, daughter-in-law Carie Brady and her husband Marc Brady, granddaughter Tayler Gress, Colleen’s children, Shelley and Pat, and their children.

So many people loved this man, his dry sense of Texas humor and his giant heart under the rough exterior. He will truly be missed by his many friends and most importantly his family.

Graveside services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, at Fairview Cemetery in Columbia Falls.

Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls is caring for the family.
