Nearly 350 community members participated in the Flathead Valley’s Out of the Darkness Walk Sept. 25 to raise awareness about suicide prevention. 
The walk is part of a national event held annually on the last Sunday of September, which is National Suicide Prevention Month. 
Teams and groups join to also raises awareness about mental health issues, as well as honors those lost to suicide.
This year’s guest speaker was Teigan Avery. Teams and groups join to fight suicide and honor those they have loved and lost to suicidePictured is the top fundraising Team Red Rock leading the way carrying the AFSP banner. 
A quilt was made for the event and donated for the silent suction held during the event.
To date, approximately $20,000 has been raised by the Flathead Valley Walk for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
