The Valley Voices Community Choir will sing iconic songs from the big screen at its spring concert Saturday Night (and Sunday Afternoon) at the Movies.

The April 27-28 concert will include well more than a dozen memorable songs from feature-length movies including: “Edelweiss” from “The Sound of Music,” “Pure Imagination” from “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” “Dancing Queen” from “Mama Mia,” “My Heart Will Go On” from “Titanic,” “Somewhere” from “West Side Story” and “Nella Fantasia" from “The Mission.”

“There’s something grand about songs from the movies,” choir member David Vale said. “Maybe it’s just the style or maybe it’s the music bringing back the vivid visual images associated with the movies. But I love it.”

Valley Voices President Rosella Thompson said the choir “selected some of Hollywood’s best pieces,” for the concert. Choir Director Allyson Kuechmann noted the range of styles members will get to sing for audiences.

“The smooth ballads like ‘Somewhere,’ the enthusiastic Broadway influences in ‘Oklahoma,’ the African rhythms as in ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’ and the just crazy stuff like ‘We Go Together’ and ‘Supercalifragilisticexpalidocious.'”

The concert starts at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Glacier High School auditorium in Kalispell. Admission is free.
