A 56-year-old man was taken to the hospital Monday with non-life-threatening injuries after a van southbound in the 2100 block of U.S. 93 South crossed into oncoming traffic and collided nearly head-on with his pickup truck. The man, who was traveling northbound, was stopped in a left-hand turn lane at about 12:45 p.m. when the crash occurred. A woman stopped in the turn lane behind the man also was involved in the wreck but not seriously injured. The 18-year-old driver of the van, who told Kalispell police he may have fallen asleep behind the wheel, was cited for careless driving.

Before going to jail, he was taken to the hospital for evaluation; his combative actions there earned him a disorderly conduct ticket from Whitefish police.
