Alfonzo Pena, 32, is to be treated with extreme caution, according to authorities. He is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, with brown eyes and black hair, and weighing 170 pounds. Two people who reportedly stole a car in Cut Bank got the vehicle stuck in Essex, the Flathead County Sheriff's Office reported. They left it and stole a pickup, in which the pair made it to Ritzville, Wash., before nearly T-boning a state trooper's vehicle. The pickup's owner was in Texas and unaware his vehicle was missing. The truck's topper is still unaccounted for.

A 56-year-old man was taken to the hospital Monday with non-life-threatening injuries after a van southbound in the 2100 block of U.S. 93 South crossed into oncoming traffic and collided nearly head-on with his pickup truck. The man, who was traveling northbound, was stopped in a left-hand turn lane at about 12:45 p.m. when the crash occurred. A woman stopped in the turn lane behind the man also was involved in the wreck but not seriously injured. The 18-year-old driver of the van, who told Kalispell police he may have fallen asleep behind the wheel, was cited for careless driving.

Columbia Falls police

When Columbia Falls police attempted to pull him over, a 19-year-old driver punched the gas but didn't get far. He was caught and arrested on suspicion of several charges, including driving under the influence, eluding an officer, reckless driving and resisting arrest. Before going to jail, he was taken to the hospital for evaluation; his combative actions there earned him a disorderly conduct ticket from Whitefish police. The Sheriff's Office also got involved after they discovered the car he'd been pulled over in had been reported stolen in the county.

A cross-country skier happened upon the 4-year-old reported missing Saturday afternoon. The child went missing from his Foothills Road home a little after 1 p.m.; Flathead County Search and Rescue and Flathead County sheriff's deputies looked for him. He was found at about 3:30 p.m. near Labrant Road.
