A woman complained to Kalispell Police that a man in a silver pickup tried to ram her red Volkswagen Beetle and got out of his rig to knock on her windows. After an unusual citizen pursuit, a man was arrested by Kalispell Police for stealing a bicycle. The man was originally confronted at Kalispell Center Mall by the bike's owner, who then followed the suspect through the mall and down First Avenue West. He ignored warnings from dispatchers not to follow the suspect, saying that he wanted his bike back. Officers located the two men, and after questioning them, police recovered the bike on Fourth Avenue West North, where the suspect was arrested.

Rangers rescue river rafters
Glacier National Park rangers rescued two people from the Middle Fork of the Flathead River Monday afternoon after their raft flipped between the new and old bridges at West Glacier. A call for help came in to the Flathead County Sheriff's Office about 2 p.m. on Memorial Day, but park officials said rangers had the two boaters out of the water and into an ambulance for a ride to the raft company before sheriff's deputies could arrive. Other than being cold, the two people were fine, the sheriff's office said. No information was available on their ages or what caused the raft to overturn.

A 17-year-old Whitefish boy was arrested Wednesday for text-messaging sexually explicit photographs of a 15-year-old girl over his cell phone. The boy, who was arrested in his home, is being held in the Flathead County juvenile detention facility. Sexual abuse of a child is a felony, according to the Whitefish Police Department.

A 46-year-old man accused of assaulting a Montana Highway Patrol trooper during an April traffic stop pleaded not guilty Thursday to two felonies and six misdemeanors during his arraignment in Flathead County District Court. The man - who faces charges ranging from assaulting a peace officer and drug possession to DUI and traffic violations - injured the trooper during a lengthy struggle. At one point, the man, who initially fled the scene on foot, used one hand to crawl under a trailer with two men trying to hold him down. Both the trooper and the defendant were treated at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

A disturbance ensued, and the woman, whom deputies shocked with a Taser, was arrested on suspicion of obstructing justice. She says she stopped breathing while in the Evergreen area and was taken to the hospital.

Firefighters extinguished a structure fire early Thursday morning that gutted a home on Mountain Drive in Hungry Horse. The blaze appears to have started in the chimney and then spread onto the roof as the occupants slept. The fire reportedly was discovered at about 2:50 a.m. by a passing sheriff's deputy, who awoke the family. The Hungry Horse Fire Department, Coram Fire Department, and Martin City Fire Department responded.
