Phyllis Edith Price was born Nov. 13, 1928, in Eureka, to Tom and Alice Price. While Phyllis was growing up, the family lived in Eureka, Libby and Kalispell. She graduated from Eureka High School in 1946.

Bobby Lowry, 9, uses a garden hose to spray down the edge of a burning field of grass Monday afternoon off Lower Valley Road south of Kalispell. After being alerted to the fire outside his home, the boy first called his mother and then called 911. After making the phone calls, the boy went outside and helped a neighbor try to extinguish the rapidly spreading fire. The neighbor was burning woody debris when gusty winds pushed the fire into a nearby field. The man said he was unaware it was illegal to burn.

Man on motorcycle hits deer in park
A 59-year-old motorcycle rider from Reno, Nev. was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center Monday after a 10:15 a.m. collision with a deer about 20 miles up Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park. The man, who was transported by Three Rivers EMS, suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his hip and shoulder. There is no word on what became of the deer, park officials said.

Frederick "Fred" R. Yaeck, 94, our beloved dad and grandpa, left us on Friday, June 27, 2008, at Heritage Place in Kalispell. Fred was born May 5, 1914, in Dixon, to Reinhold and Fredrica Yaeck. As a young boy he and his family moved to Rudyard, where he grew up and graduated from high school in 1932.

Forrest F. Spencer, 85, a longtime Libby resident, died on Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Libby Care Center. He was born on May 13, 1923, in Libby, the son of Vern and Marie (Mitchell) Spencer. He attended school in Libby, graduating from Libby Senior High School in 1941.

Erick Louis Fehlberg, son of Erick Louis Fehlberg and Lillian Opal Lacher, was born Feb. 26, 1928, in Kalispell. He passed away June 23, 2008, in Bakersfield, Calif.
He was raised to be very independent, as his father died when he was young.

An 18-year-old man shot himself in the hand Sunday evening at a Nyack Flats residence. The man reportedly was inspecting his uncle's .45-caliber pistol, which he thought was unloaded, when it discharged and sent a round through his hand. The man then drove himself to Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Flathead County Sheriff's deputies have ruled the shooting an accident.
