Beatrice Marietta Havens, 86

Beatrice Marietta Havens, 86, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell. Beatrice was born March 4, 1922, to Adolph and Borgena (Larson) Nelson in International Falls, Minn.

She graduated from Flathead High School in 1940.

She met the love of her life, Eugene E. Havens, in high school, and they were married Aug. 29, 1942. During World War II, she worked at the Richmond, Calif., shipyards. After the war, Beatrice returned to Montana. She worked 25 years for Flathead County as the chief appraisal clerk.

She was a lifetime member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She was a very active member of the Democratic Women's Club, holding the honor of State Democratic Woman of the Year in 2001.

Beatrice enjoyed spending much of her time at Bitterroot Lake with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who will be loved and missed by all.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and two brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene E. Havens; son, Gary Havens, and his wife, Lynn, of Kalispell; daughter, Ann Brown, and her husband, Mark, of Pocatello, Idaho; sister, Janet Donovan, of Marion; and four grandsons and their families.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, with a private interment at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
