Alfred Felix Garbagnati, 87, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at his daughter's residence in Kalispell. Al passed away after a wonderful healthy life from a short and swift bout with cancer. He was born on July 4, 1922, in Carlstadt, N.J., the son of Dominick Guiseppe and Elisabeth (Merlo) Garbagnati. Al's mother died at a young age and his father was remarried to Caroline Ronzoni.

David Kao, 28, of Whitefish, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept., 24, 2009, at Washington Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained in an Aug. 8th automobile accident. He was born in Whitefish on Nov. 23,1980, to Steph and Mike Kao. David attended Whitefish High and happily remained in his hometown after school.

George E. Collins, 81, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, peacefully in his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. George was born on Nov. 29, 1927, in Placentia, Newfoundland, to Mary Bridget and Francis Collins. He was the second youngest of 10 children, all who have preceded him in death.

A Cynthia Drive resident called the Flathead County Sheriff's Office to report that two men drove up in a car, got out and beat up a neighbor Sunday afternoon. The neighbor was hurt in the altercation and was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Flathead County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man wanted in a Hungry Horse shooting that injured a woman Saturday night.
Deputies report that the man used a semi-automatic gun to fire through the windshield of a pickup truck as he drove toward the truck from the opposite direction on First Street South East just before 11 p.m. The suspect got into an argument with the man driving the truck as they pulled abreast of one another, deputies report, then the second driver pulled away. The suspect allegedly fired more shots through the pickup's rear window, injuring a female passenger on the neck and shoulder.

Columbia Falls police took several complaints on Sunday and again on Monday about door-to-door solicitors, an activity that is illegal in city limits. Callers said groups of either four or six young people from various states were dropped off by a blue Jeep so they could knock on doors and solicit money for culinary school. Residents told police they felt they were being scammed. Police tracked the solicitors down and asked them to leave town.
